One of the best ways to prevent gaming addiction in children, is to set limits. If your child is someone who spends too much time when playing games, then you have a lot of work to do. You need to restore balance by fixing limits. You should set location limits, time limits and even day limits.

Next step would be for you to take it away. This particularly comes in handy when setting limits does not yield much fruits. You need to explain to your child that, he or she can actually live without what seems to be too important to them. Then, it is up to you to decide the duration of time for your child to stay without it.

Some parents also go to lengths of hiding their children’s video games, and this is an acceptable step. When your child is too attached to a particular thing, the child becomes negligent to other important duties in the house. So, all you need do is, hide the video game, then when the child has completed all the chores, you can bring it down.

You can also make your child merit it. This is one of the steps which ensures that your child drastically cuts down on gaming. You can challenge your child to read some books within a period of time, and gets the chance to play games for some few hours. If your child does not meet up with your standard, he would have to retake the exercise, until he meets up.
